The Costa Blanca is currently experiencing extreme summer heat and high humidity, with inland areas reaching up to 42° C and coastal areas hovering in the low 30s that feel much hotter due to moisture. This oppressive heat is driven by a Saharan hot air mass and an unusually warm Mediterranean. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Staying safe and comfortable during these high temperatures requires adapting your daily schedule:
- Avoid the Sun: Stay indoors during the hottest peak hours, typically between 12:00 and 17:00. [1, 2, 3]
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty. [1]
- Watch the Nighttime Lows: "Torrid nights" (where temperatures remain above 25° C) are common. Keep curtains and blinds closed during the day to block out solar heat, and use air conditioning or fans at night.
